You don’t need to apply. You’ll be automatically enrolled if you trade 15 times or more per quarter or invest at least $250,000 – and it’s completely free.

I manage multiple accounts. Do I Qualify?

Yes, as long as the combined value of these accounts meets the minimum asset or trading requirements. You can also link all your accounts with one user ID. If you use Client ID to access your accounts, then the combined value will be based on all the accounts under your Client ID. If there is more than one Client ID user in a household residence, then all the assets under those Client IDs will be combined to qualify for the 5 Star Program.

It’s easy! You can apply online 20 minutes or less. Just make sure you have all the required documents: 1. Your Social Insurance Number 2. One piece of valid Canadian photo ID (e.g. valid passport, valid driver’s license, Canadian citizenship card, government-issued resident card, provincial health card) 3. Employment and banking information (e.g. your job title and job industry, plus current employer’s name, address and phone number)

How do I transfer my funds?

You can make a deposit from your branch, transfer an existing account from another financial institution or deposit a share certificate of an eligible security.

What types of orders can I place online? Do you support stop orders?

You can place equity, options, GIC, fixed income and mutual fund orders online. For equity orders, you can place buy, sell, or short orders at either market or limit price. You can also place stop orders on those markets which support this type of order.

Can I access my account on mobile?

Yes, you can access your account on desktop, or using the mobile or tablet app!

Are my adviceDirect accounts included in the evaluation for qualifying to the 5 Star program?

If your Client ID includes Self-Directed and adviceDirect accounts, the assets in your adviceDirect accounts will be included for qualification in the 5 Star Program.
